From Sydney to Victoria: Reminiscences of a Soldier, Diplomat and Scholar

Presented by Alex Morrison, MSC CD MA, Associate Professor, and Director, School of Peace and Conflict Management.

Within the context of his varied careers, Mr. Morrison will relate how life experiences and lessons came together to lead him to Royal Roads University and his position as Director of the School of Peace and Conflict Management.

In a presentation alive with anecdotes, Morrison will draw on his military career in Canada, Cyprus, Germany and New York; six years as a member of the Mission of Canada to the United Nations, and the establishment of the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre to illustrate how the innovative Royal Roads University model is well-suited to meet the needs of those who wish to advance in their professions.

Morrison will demonstrate, through his rich experiences as a soldier, diplomat, and scholar, how tenacity and determination learned from the teachings of everyday life impact our personal and professional lives. His personal presets, deciding versus doing, will challenge you.
